Arthur Attwell is one of my favourite people in publishing. He's behind projects like Book Dash (a project to create new African storybooks that anyone can freely translate and distribute) and Electric Book Works (a tech company that's reinventing publishing workflows). He's a poet, a great dad, and one of the kindest, most thoughtful people you'll ever meet. He's also the reason that I have a writing career at all - as you'll hear in the link!
He's started a new podcast called How Books are Made, which is a deliciously nerdy deep-dive into the publishing industry. We had a really fun chat about how to market books, and the power of creative collaboration. You can listen to our chat right here.
A summary of the episode:
People who can build book brands and inspire fans are rare and amazing, even more so when they write their books, too. One of those people is Sam Beckbessinger, the bestselling author of Manage Your Money Like a F—ing Grownup, which is a book, a website, and a growing brand in several countries. She also writes for hugely popular kids’ TV shows, and was one of the writers on Serial Box and Marvel’s serialized novel Jessica Jones: Playing With Fire. She is irrepressibly joyful and optimistic, which is something we all need a dose of right now.
